Madison, WI, Oct 09, 2008 -- "Green" is the theme for The Guild Sourcebook of Architectural & Interior Art 23, the newest annual sourcebook of commissionable artists for public, corporate, hospitality, healthcare, and liturgical projects from The Guild, Inc. The book features 11 case studies of commissions by artists incorporating "green" practices in their work including the use of recycled and non-toxic materials, lower energy consumption, reduced carbon footprint, and the elimination of waste. Examples include a glass "water" feature for a desert home that does not actually use any water and a solar-powered light sculpture that soaks up sunlight during the day to function as a lantern by night. The book also includes helpful advice on contracting and collaborating with commissionable artists, as well as a list of art consultants who can handle all aspects of the commissioning process.
The majority of the 384-page book, however, is devoted to an Artist Gallery of 728 color photos showcasing the work of 226 commissionable artists in 13 categories including architectural glass; architectural elements; sculpture; public art; liturgical art; lighting and furniture; murals, tiles and wall reliefs; paintings and prints; fine art photography; metal, mixed and other media wall art; and fiber art. All artists in the book are juried by a committee of respected design professionals to ensure the highest standards of quality. Contact information and artist statements are included for each artist to enable design professionals to commission them for projects.
The Guild Sourcebook of Architectural & Interior Art 23 is available free to qualified design professionals by contacting Jenna Brandt, Coordinator of Trade Relations & Sourcebooks, at (800) 930-1856, or tradeinfo@guild.com. The book can be purchased by others for $48 (hardbound) or $45 (softbound) through The Guild's retail Web site (www.artfulhome.com), as well as through Amazon.com. The commissionable artists' work can also be viewed online through The Guild's Custom Design Center at www.guild.com/cdc.
The Guild Sourcebook of Architectural & Interior Art 23 is the last edition of Guild sourcebooks devoted exclusively to commissionable art for corporate and public projects. The next edition, The Guild Sourcebook of Art 24: The Resource for Finding & Commissioning Artists, will include artists interested in residential work as well as those interested in facilities projects to create a one-stop resource for locating commissionable artists. It will be published in early fall 2009.
