Security provider cited for ability to process system updates without unlocking hard drives and its high levels of FIPS and Common Criteria certifications
St. Louis, MO, Sept. 15, 2009 -- Mobile Armor, Inc., a leader in securing and protecting mobile data through cost effective solutions, today announced it has been positioned by Gartner Inc. in its Visionary Quadrant of the 2009 Magic Quadrant report on Mobile Data Protection. In its analysis, Gartner positioned Mobile Armor as a visionary due to its unique network aware pre-boot authentication, superior audit reports and the highest levels of multiple government security certifications, which are all needed in today's security environment to meet compliance and regulatory controls.
“We are 'visionary' because we know what is needed to protect organizations sensitive data to meet compliance regulations and company's own internal requirements when it comes to the protection of sensitive data. Protecting sensitive data – whether in transit or at rest – is a crucial requirement for government and commercial organizations that cannot be ignored,” said Michael Menegay, chief executive officer at Mobile Armor. “We appreciate Gartner's analysis and positioning of Mobile Armor and as clearly stated, we are known as one of the most trusted data protection providers operating in the military and government sectors today. As we continue to extend our military-grade security solutions to the commercial and public markets, we look forward to bringing security-conscious organizations our world-class management and data protection solutions to their mobile data needs.”
The Gartner report defines Mobile Data Protection (MDP) as “software utilities that enforce data privacy policies by managing data encryption on the primary storage system of mobile platforms, including notebooks, PDAs and phones.” Mobile Armor's turnkey security products for mobile devices, such as laptops, PDAs, CD/DVD, smart phones and now USB flash drives, employ the latest advancements in encryption and authentication technology, all while being easy-to-use, manageable and flexible. The report references Mobile Armor's strength within the government market, as well as its FIPS and Common Criteria certifications and the multiple platforms (Windows, Linux, Apple) it supports.
The report, authored by John Girard and Eric Oullet, cites:
• “Mobile Armor was the first MDP vendor to offer network-aware PBA. It can process system updates without unlocking the hard drive or starting the host OS. This is particularly valuable to companies that want to process unattended updates.”
• “Mobile Armor provided a superior set of examples of system-generated audit reports.”
• “Mobile Armor has the following FIPS and CC certifications: FIPS 140-2 Level 2, CC EAL4+ and U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) Communications Security (COMSEC) Suite B. It was included in the GSA's SmartBuy award.”
• Mobile Armor is currently working with governmental agencies to protect data that is both highly classified and sensitive to national security concerns. The company is also rolling out products that will ensure the same high standards of data protection for commercial vendors.
