Codetel, the leading fixed/mobile operator in the Dominican Republic, expands its network with Ceragon’s wireless trunk solution in a deal valued over $3 million
TEL AVIV, Israel, May 19, 2009 - Ceragon Networks Ltd. (NASDAQ and TASE: CRNT), a leading provider of high-capacity, LTE-Ready wireless backhaul solutions, today announced that Codetel, the leading fixed and mobile operator of the Dominican Republic is expanding its communications network using Ceragon equipment. Codetel, a subsidiary of America Movil, the leading wireless service provider in Latin America, will implement Ceragon’s FibeAir 3200T long haul trunk solution to upgrade and replace parts of its existing fixed and mobile backbone network. Sales, installation and project management for this project were handled by TeleNetworks Broadband Solutions (www.telenetworkspr.com). The deal is valued at over $3 million in revenue for Ceragon.
“We are responding to the need for additional data capacity and are moving quickly to upgrade and expand our backbone network,” said Eng. Juan Mota Network Planning and Engineering Director at Codetel. “The FibeAir 3200T features excellent flexibility and modularity. This allows us to implement a simple upgrade concept and replace legacy equipment under live traffic.”
FibeAir 3200T provides high capacity connectivity using multiple STM-1, OC-3, FE or GbE, and enables the deployment of voice and data services for rapidly growing networks. Codetel will utilize the solution in a variety of N+1 configurations, including the aggregation of 16 OC-3 into a single, ultra-high capacity logical channel. With FibeAir 3200T, which utilizes Ceragon’s high-power RF unit (RFU-HP) Codetel benefits from superior radio performance enabling it to reach longer distances without increasing antenna size. Additionally, the system includes two receivers and one transmitter in each RF unit giving it a built-in Diversity capability which further increases the reliability of the link.
“We are proud to extend our relationship with Codetel and help this important operator meet its capacity requirements,” said Ira Palti, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ceragon. “Over the past year we have seen a growing interest in our advanced Trunk solution. As a result, our FibeAir 3200 family of solutions is now deployed by leading operators around the world and serves both SDH/SONET and IP wireless networks.”
